The end of Sinch and the start of H&M

Wow has it been 7 months since I lasted posted?  Damn it looks that way.

So I've ended my stint at Sinch.  It was a company that could be improved on massively.  They wanted me to stay and I said "HELL NOOOS".

Back to Sweden soon

So I'm going back to Sweden.  And it's confirmed.  I'm leaving on the 2nd of August.  I have a client that I'll be starting at for 6 months, and that client is Sinch.  Which is formerly CLX communications, which bought over Sinch, and then rebranded itself as Sinch.  It's a communications company.  Discovery Networks turned me down for some reason or another, 2 kids who are junior to me.  Which is their loss really.  Sinch had 4 people interview me.

To be honest I'm not that excited about the position.  I'll be taking over someone else's job, since they're going on paternity leave.  Nothing new that I can't handle.  Devops, infrastructure, AWS, application code, what can I not handle eh...  all these positions nowadays I am so overqualified for it's beyond ridiculous.  I've done so many interviews literally all around the world, probably more than all these people who have interviewed me.

But at least I'll have a job and start to get a salary again after all this time.

Year of Thanos 2020

Half the year has gone, poof.  I'm still in Singapore.  What happened.  This year has been absurd.  Maybe we're all dead already and this is hell created by Thanos.  With regards to Covid-19, no matter what you say the statistics say that even though it may be contagious, it's not deadly.  So what's the real agenda behind all of this madness?

The only two highlights I really have for the year are attending a cousin's wedding and seeing the SpaceX launch.  That's pretty much about it.

So I heard from the recruiter today.  This is his email.

Hope you're good, thanks for your patience in waiting for the interview results. I have the feedback and unfortunately we don't want to proceed with your application.

I would like to set up some time to share the feedback with you, to help you get better for the future.

Would you be able to book some time in my calendar?

On the plus side, I did book a meeting with them on Thursday, I'm curious what feedback will be provided.  My interview went from the allocated 45 mins to 90 minutes so I'm a bit puzzled why I was turned down.  Did I not ask enough questions?  I'm wondering now what's going on.

So the Amazon recruiter contacted me this morning and informed me of the news... I didn't pass the 3rd round of on-site interviews.  And you won't believe the reason why.

Google Cloud Partner Engineer interview experience part 1

So I'm also interviewing for the position of Partner Engineer at Google's Cloud business.  The position is in Google's Switzerland office.  This was scheduled more than a month ago, and the earliest date was January 15th.  So I have been waiting for a while.  The recruiter contacted me in November for the position and I responded in early December, then he went on holidays.  I shot him some questions asking what the process would be like.  And he informed me earlier this month what was involved.  He told me there would be a troubleshooting scenario and some code debugging, in other words, some programming.  Turns out what happened was, the interviewer from Poland asked me an operations scenario and a systems design question.  Apparently according to a recruiter, only 1 out of 10 pass the first round of phone interviews.  Call me a sadist, but I'm still a sucker for interviews with tech companies as they are much more challenging than other companies.  Amazingly I think this is the 4th or 5th time I have interviewed with them.  My first time was in 2007.  I've come a very long way since.
