AWS solution architect interview experience part 1

I'm now interviewing at AWS Singapore.  I have presently gone through 3 rounds, which have taken at least 4.5 hours.  If you ask me, it's getting more and more insane with interviews nowadays in the tech industry.  I'm not even that interested if you ask me, but I need the interview experience to keep me on my tops so I'm prepared for other (easier) interviews.  I was sort of pushed through this interview by a recruiter.  Going through one of these interviews is like going through a meat grinder, at the end hopefully you're not ground beef yet.  Apparently, the entire hiring rate is 1 out of 50.  Which makes it a measly 2%.  The odds aren't that great.  But if you do make it to the 2% you're going to have a much better time with other company interviews, and even if you don't make it, you're still going to have a much better time with other company interviews!

Back in Singapore πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬

So I'm back in Singapore after a long hiatus.

I've left the hell hole known as Dubai, say prayers for the unfortunate who are living there seriously.

I've had enough of shitty jobs with no real-life meaning (which is what people really want).  Sure money is great but can't take it with me to the grave.  The amount of people willing to sell their asses for money truly is amazing.  Dubai wasn't just shit, it was absolutely shit.  It did nothing for my career.  And I have former work colleagues there who have completely admitted it does nothing for their career, but they are happy to simply rot away whilst collecting money.  Is this honestly what the human species has become?

Yes, it's me.

I came I saw I resigned part 1 πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ͺ

As I sit on the bed butt naked, I write one of the best sentences of my life.

I resigned from my position in Dubai on the 8th of August.

Yes I know what you're thinking... Why?  You've barely just started!

Are you mad?

And it didn't come soon enough!

Moving ✈️

So guess what?  The UAE company decided to pay for my attestation.  Yep.  They are pretty mad or just insane.  And they paid and did it.  Honestly, I don't think I'm that worth it, but it's good to know that someone else thinks so!

But thanks, really!

UAE bureaucracy 101 πŸ’©

So I haven't been moved there but I've already experienced a dosage of UAE bullshit.  Everyone who moves there needs to get their degree attested at the UAE embassy of the country where you obtained your degree from.  In my case, it's Australia.  Except I don't live there anymore.  I tried to get it attested at the UAE embassy in Singapore, of which they replied they do not attest foreign documents and the only way for me to get this done is to either fly to Australia or find a lawyer.  Of course, I'm not going to do this so I've told the recruiter either you or the company who is hiring me do it or forget about me moving.  Take note that this recruiter was continuously email / ringing me for a whole week (some people would call this stalking or hassling, but no, this person does not know how to behave and thinks calling someone 3x a day and emailing them a whole week is normal!) before I finally replied to him and when I did he was so happy it was ridiculous.  Obviously signing me on would mean a big deal to his paycheck.  It's so obvious.
